This study is an attempt to investigate the Shafite school`s influences in Malaysia through study one of the major Malay references of fiqh. The particular book has familiar mostly in the Malay continents in Southeast Asia which were called arkhbi al malayu including Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei and four regions in South Thailand.
2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
The study will investigate how far the Sabilal Muhtadi, one of the most important classical works of fiqh in old Malay language which was written by Arshad Al Banjari has played great duty in teaching Shafite`s jurisprudence school for more than one and half centuries. However, this work is considerable to has created a culture of extremism to the Shafite`s school among its students.
4OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
The key objective of this study can be divided into four points:
a) To revive the “Ummah” particularly in Malaysia by looking back to a part of the history of the extremism to the Shafite`s school of jurisprudence.
b) To clarify that the culture of extremism to the Shafite`s school of jurisprudence was shared by the classical references
c) To analyze the effort of Malay scholars related to extremism to particular jurisprudence school might drive us to variety of lessons.
d) To find possibilities of preventing the culture of extremism through study other views mentioned by the author exploring current problems that had already mentioned by the earlier contribution of the jurisprudence in Shafite’s school.
5 SCOPE OF STUDY
Extremism that had cultivated among the traditional Islamic students who engage with that textbook whether they are students or teachers
1) How far the particular book had played its rule in creating the culture of extremism in people , other factors such as the teachers in delivering the lessons , style of studying the book and environment
2) How far this particular work has brought the effect positively and negatively into the area and to what extend its implication or impact of that for the Islam contemporary reform.
3) How the extremism to the Shafie’s school had became a helpful weapon in defending the community and protecting them from the alien influence especially exerted by the western colonialists.
7 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This study, upon successfully insha Allah, will attempt to suggest a better perspective for Malay Muslims in reading the particular book in present. It may serve as a material reference for ———

The major limitation in this research is that the materials concerning the subject are mostly delivered from Malay (which speak by Malaysian and Indonesian). In fact, there are a huge number of books written by never heard name of Malaysian and Indonesian scholars such as Mohammad Abdul Latif al Khatib, Nawawi al Bantani, Dawud al Fatani, Mohamad Ershad al Banjari, Abdul Samad Al Falembani ,Sayyid Umar al Edrus, Siraj al Den Abbas that considerable as helping to understand the subject.Some of those scholars were among the prominent Shafite`s scholars in Masjidil Haram in 17-19CE. They had invested a great influences to the local school of jurisprudence. So that, it perhaps helpable to this study.
This research is hopefully not only useful for Muslims in Malaysia, but also to our other brothers in other places in order to understand one of the problems of reforming the ummah.
In preventing the problems of reform the ummah which was caused by the weakness of classical works of fiqh, my effort would be made to trace the problems of the environment of Shafie`s jurisprudence school.y research approach is qualitative methodology and it is a descriptive study.
This method will be employed in order to explore all —–available. Some analysis will be made on understand-through fieldwork, survey and interview groups of people.
This research will be mainly conducted by comparing the —-with those —-A comparative study between the Islamic classical and modern jurist will also be made in order to examine and evaluate their argument s in the events of conflict. Finally a comperative discussion on the application of law —–is also need in order to come with a complete and exhaustive legal solution to the main issue.
This research needs to identify all available resources in the library, thus most data collections will be conducted in some libraries. References will be made to some primary and secondary sources as stated below:
a) Textbooks on Islamic. For the premiere sources, the major texts of handful of Shafite scholars will become a part of tools to examine the subject
b) Periodicals and articles under the topic of Islamic economics,
